Why we do everything ourselves (and why it matters for your UV lamps)
Most people buy UV lamps the wrong way. They grab a lamp from one guy, a ballast from another, and a quartz sleeve from a third. It’s a headache. We decided to stop playing that game. We handle the whole thing—from smelting the raw quartz and depositing the electrodes to filling the gas. We aren’t talking about some “corporate strategy” or a discount code. We just cut out the middleman. When you stop paying for three different markups, the price actually makes sense.
Getting the light right
If you’re sterilizing something, you need that specific UVC peak (usually 253.7nm) to actually kill the germs. If you’re curing ink or resin, you need a different spectrum entirely. We tweak the tubes to match exactly what your photoinitiators need. Now, here is the tricky part: power density. You can cram a lot of wattage into a short tube to get more punch, but that puts a ton of stress on the electrodes. To stop the lamps from burning out, we use high-purity quartz. It resists “solarization,” which is just a fancy way of saying your light won’t suddenly get dim after the first 500 hours.
The real-world stuff
We use fused quartz for the envelope because it doesn’t crack when the temperature swings. If you’ve got an existing array, these usually slide right in as replacements—just make sure your ballast matches the starting voltage. But a word of warning: these high-output lamps gethot. If your housing doesn’t breathe, the tube temperature will spike. That kills your UV output and eats your lamp’s lifespan. Do yourself a favor and make sure your cooling fans can actually handle the total wattage you’re running.
Better gear, better price
Because we own the whole process, we don’t have to sit around waiting for a quartz supplier to ship us a batch that might be off-spec. We control the tolerances. That means fewer mistakes, less scrap, and a price point that usually only comes with “cheap” lamps. Except these aren’t cheap. You’re getting the same specs as the big-name premium brands, just without paying for the logo on the box.
