The science (without the headache)
Getting a perfect cure is a balancing act. You’re juggling wattage, wavelength, and distance all at once. If these don’t line up with the photoinitiators in your ink, you end up with “surface cure.” That’s the nightmare scenario where the top looks dry, but the bottom is still wet. The result? Your ink peels right off. We look at how fast your line is moving and how thick your ink is. Sometimes you need a quick, high-intensity hit. Other times, a slower, steadier soak is what actually works.
Dealing with the heat
Then there’s the physical side of things. Whether you’re running LED arrays or mercury-vapor, heat is your biggest enemy. High-output lamps put off a ton of infrared energy. If your fans or water jackets can’t keep up, you’re going to fry your reflectors or melt your substrate. We make sure the wiring and the power supply actually match the lamp’s impedance. It’s a small detail, but it’s the difference between a lamp that lasts and one that burns out its electrodes way too soon.
Finding the sweet spot
Here’s the thing: throwing more power at a problem doesn’t always fix it. Often, the “shadows” on a complex print aren’t a power issue—they’re a geometry issue.
